The Colombian ultra-low-cost carrier Ultra Air has expressed its opposition to the merger between Avianca and Viva, which would create a holding and give them 48% of the weekly departures and 57% of the seats available from Colombia (according to data from Cirium). Avianca and Viva applied to the Colombian Civil Aviation Authority for authorization to merge, urging the government to approve the partnership earlier this month.
