On August 11, 1979, 43 years ago today, two Soviet Tupolev Tu-134s were involved in a midair collision over the Ukrainian city of Dniprodzerzhynsk (now Kamianske). Both flights were regularly scheduled passenger flights operated by Soviet national flag carrier Aeroflot. All 178 people aboard both aircraft died in the accident.
