Next summer Hawaiian Airlines and Jetstar Airways will launch flights to the Cook Islands, dramatically expanding the island's connections to the world. Hawaiian will launch a route from Honolulu to Rarotonga, and Jetstar will launch a route from Sydney to Rarotonga. The starting locations for these routes are on separate hemispheres, meaning they will be launched in opposite seasons despite the inaugural flights being within about a month of one another. Hawaiian Airlines will launch the route to cater to summer travelers, whereas Jetstar will launch the route to cater to winter travelers.
