A Look At Air Chathams’ Operations

A small regional airline in New Zealand is making its mark in the country, picking up regional routes abandoned by Air New Zealand. Air Chathams, owned by Craig and Marion Emeny, was established in 1984 to connect the Chatham Islands with the New Zealand mainland. The Chatham Islands are some 800km (500 miles) east of the South Island, and around 2 hours flight time from the mainland, so a reliable and frequent connection is vital. The airline currently operates between Auckland (AKL), Christchurch (CHC), and Wellington (WLG) direct to the Chatham Islands, along with its regional operations.
