On November 4, 2010, Aero Caribbean Flight 883, operated on an ATR 72, was en route from Santiago de Cuba to Havana, Cuba when it crashed, killing all 68 on board. The domestic flight was the last one out before the airport was closed due to the approaching Hurricane Tomas.
