Exactly 29 years ago today, on October 26, 1993, China Eastern Airlines Flight 5398 overran the runway at Fuzhou Yixu Airport (FOC), killing two of the 80 passengers and crew. The aircraft involved in the incident was an eight-year-old McDonnell Douglas MD-82 with the registration B-2103. China Eastern Airlines acquired the twin-engine narrowbody from the Civil Aviation Administration of China in 1988.
