This very day, September 10, 46 years ago in 1976, British Airways Flight 476, en route to Istanbul, Turkey, from London, collided midair with a Douglas DC-9 operated by Inex-Adria Aviopromet that was en route from Split to Cologne in what was then West Germany. In total, all 176 people aboard the two aircraft were killed. At the time, it was the world's deadliest mid-air collision and is still the worst aviation disaster in Croatian history.
