How Mandala Airlines Flight 91 Became The Boeing 737-200’s Deadliest Accident

On September 5th, 2005, Mandala Airlines Flight 091 crashed into a heavily populated area shortly after takeoff. Of the 117 passengers and crew, only seventeen people survived. Forty-nine people on the ground also perished in the accident. To this day, it remains the deadliest ever accident involving a Boeing 737-200 and is the second most fatal airliner crash in North Sumatra.
