On August 21, 1963, a one-year-old Aeroflot Tupolev Tu-124 with the registration number СССР-45021 made an emergency landing on the River Neva near Leningrad in northwestern Russia. Today often referred to as "the miracle on the Neva," the short-range twin-engine airliner was operating as Aeroflot Flight number 366, a regularly scheduled flight between the Baltic state of Estonia to the Russian capital Moscow.
